Find out the truth regarding Hydroxycut?
Government health officials warned dieters and body builders Friday (May 1, 2009) to immediately stop using Hydroxycut, a widely sold supplement linked to cases of serious liver damage and at least one death. This video is an excerpt from the NBC Nightly News.

It appears that the ingredient in Hydroxycut that is under scrutiny is hydroxycitric acid (HCA) which is derived from a tropical fruit called garcinia cambogia. The proposed benefit is that it spares carbohydrate utilization and promotes the breakdown of fats (lipolysis) during exercise.

This ingredient can be found in many supplements. JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association) publishied an article on the potential weight loss effects of this substance in 1998 and found no significant weight loss and fat mass loss beyond that observed with placebo.
